Today; copper, gold, and other metals are often
extracted using hydrometallurgical processes. This leaching can occur in
open or closed, pressurised or non pressurised, tanks or vessels.
From a mixing and agitation viewpoint, the most arduous service is
pressure leaching, using horizontal autoclaves with lengths up to 20 m and pressures up to 60 bar. The
vessels are divided into 4-8 chambers which are separated by weir
walls. EKATO has developed a complete system based on
comprehensive pilot tests that offers a maximum recovery by
optimizing the interaction of the flow pattern, feed slurry and
the flow direction between the chambers. This technology sets the
standard today worldwide in the mineral processing industry.
